Latest Highlights

Football Night in America 7:00 pm  ET

Prior to the Colts and Bears opening NBC's Sunday night football season, this studio show debuts an old look. Dan Patrick joins the cast as a co-host, reuniting him with former ESPN "SportsCenter" partner Keith Olbermann. They'll handle the day's highlights in the popular manner they perfected at ESPN from 1992 to '97, while Tiki Barber and Jerome Bettis stick to analysis. Co-hosts Bob Costas and Cris Collinsworth return, as does reporter Peter King.

America United: In Support of Our Troops 9:00 pm  ET

Bob Hope is gone, but his spirit lives on in this new special, in which a galaxy of stars honors U.S. service members from stages around the country and the world. Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Pamela Anderson, Toby Keith, D.L. Hughley and Z.Z. Top are among the performers appearing during the show, which includes troop tributes and human interest stories in addition to the music and comedy.

Entourage 10:00 pm  ET

When we left Vince (Adrian Grenier) at the end of last season, they'd just watched "Medellin" lay a giant egg at Cannes. As a new season opens, Vince retreats to a Mexican resort to lick his wounds, while half brother Drama (Kevin Dillon) lets his inner diva out to play during a photo shoot. Jerry Ferrara, Jeremy Piven and Debi Mazar also star in "Fantasy Island."

ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway 7:00 pm  ET

If you have -- or know someone who has -- dreams of Broadway stardom, you need to watch this 2005 documentary from Dori Berinstein. She follows the fortunes of four productions from the 2004 Broadway season from the audition and rehearsal stage through the Tony Awards, where some fared better than others. It offers a fascinating peek behind the scenes and a bitter reminder that there are more misses than hits on the road to the Great White Way.

25 Biggest Renovating Mistakes 8:00 pm  ET

Yeah, you've probably committed one or two of these blunders if you've ever undertaken a home renovation. This new special counts down the most common errors that homeowners make in undertaking remodeling projects. A panel of experts explains how to correct the mistakes and offers tips for avoiding more of them in the future. If you've got a renovation in your future -- or a botched one in your past or present -- take notes.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 8:00 pm  ET

Country star Toby Keith performs for the family of Michael Lucas of Cullen, Va., a 37-year-old National Guardsman currently serving in Iraq. Michael's deployment had interrupted his plans to build a new home for his family, which includes a 7-year-old autistic son. Leave it to Ty Pennington and his team, assisted by hundreds of volunteers, to make Michael's dream family home a reality.

Hole in the Wall 8:00 pm  ET

They're joking, right? Based on a Japanese game show, this new series challenges contestants to get through walls that come toward them at high speeds. They have weird shapes cut out in them, and the object of the game is to get one's body into a similar shape to fit through. And you thought watching people eat bugs on "Fear Factor" was weird.

NFL Football 8:15 pm  ET

The Indianapolis Colts are a slick outfit. They've won the AFC South title the past six seasons, a trend they hope continues in brand new Lucas Oil Stadium, which officially opens tonight in a game against the Chicago Bears. Getting off to great starts has been the key: Since 2004, Peyton Manning and company are 21-0 in September and October games, and with Manning missing much of the preseason because of knee surgery, he's sure to come out firing.

2008 MTV Video Music Awards 9:00 pm  ET

California, here they come. After originating from New York two years ago and happening in Vegas last year, the awards gala honoring the best in music videos airs from La-La Land with a show hosted by actor-comedian Russell Brand ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall"). Artists scheduled to perform include Lil Wayne, Kid Rock, Pink and, for the tweens, the Jonas Brothers, whose "Burnin' Up" is up for best pop video and video of the year.

Masterpiece 9:00 pm  ET

Lawyers and pornos and exes, oh my! In the Inspector Lynley mystery "Chinese Walls," Lynley and Havers (Nathaniel Parker, Sharon Small) investigate the death of a young lawyer and discover she had a hot secret life moonlighting as an Internet porn star. Speaking of heat, romantic sparks are rekindled between Lynley and his estranged wife (Catherine Russell). Isabella Calthorpe also stars.

True Blood 9:00 pm  ET

With this new series, Alan Ball does for the undead what he did for the death business in "Six Feet Under." It's set in a future where vampires coexist with humans, thanks to synthetic blood that keeps them from using people as Bloody Marys and Martys. Anna Paquin plays Sookie Stackhouse, a young waitress with telepathic powers who finds herself attracted to a handsome vampire (Stephen Moyer), despite the difference in their ages -- he's 173.
